Multifaceted Calgary-based DoYu Digital member Sky Millz, a.k.a. Riley Miller, draws on a vast repertoire of skills to propel Alberta’s electronic music community to new heights. DJ, artist and event manager, and art director are just some of the roles that Miller’s love of music has compelled him to take on over the last decade, and this list continues to grow even in these rapidly changing times.

Miller developed an interest in electronic music as a teen, and his development as an industry professional began when he made the move to Lethbridge to study new media and graphic design. At university he was elected to student council as the VP of Student Affairs and placed in charge of running campus events.

During this time as Miller’s career continued to flourish, he began directing his musical efforts into supporting cancer research initiatives and charities. This drive led Miller to work directly with organizations such as The Canadian Cancer Society, The Alberta Cancer Foundation, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, and Fuck Cancer.

After some time, Miller mobilized his experience to help launch Forte Sound Society, a DJ collective that sought to create a platform in Lethbridge for emerging electronic music with underground raves. It was through this collective that Miller connected with DoYu founder Smol. When Miller moved to Calgary in 2019 the two began working together, and Miller soon became Smol’s manager and DoYu’s art and marketing director.

Additionally, Miller has also worked as an event producer for Bassbus, a stage tech at Shambhala’s Fractal Forest with the PK Sound team, and the special events coordinator for the Alberta Electronic Music Conference. Miller was also instrumental in launching “In Bloom,” DoYu’s monthly showcase at the Hifi Club.

Musically, Sky Millz continues to hone his signature blend of bass and tech house on the digital front as a content creator. In April 2020 he launched “Milky Wave,” a podcast series exploring Western Canada’s underground rave culture through guest DJ sets, his own specially curated feature mixes, and candid interviews. Miller also continues to perform regularly on his YouTube and Twitch channels.

Amicably dubbed “the party Swiss Army knife” by peers, Miller’s adaptability and dedication to electronic music has helped cement DoYu’s reputation as a hub for innovation while making Sky Millz a trusted source of unyielding dance-floor energy.
